We have brought some of our timber frame design and manufacture in-house with the establishment of a new timber frame arm.

The creation of Castleoak Timber Frame (CTF) has been supported by a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government with 13 new staff based at our 46,000 sq ft factory in Ebbw Vale. When it is at full capacity it is hoped that 40 to 50 staff will be employed in total. Our three-strong timber frame design team is based at our new design office in Malvern, Gloucestershire.

Castleoak has been using the platform timber frame method of construction since 1987 and all our projects around the UK in care home and supported housing accommodation use timber frame. CTF will produce half of all the group’s timber frame and will only supply Castleoak.

“This is not a commercial venture and we will not be supplying to external customers. What this development does provide is another important secure link in our supply chain and, with our broader range of construction requirements demanding larger and more complex structures, this allows us to keep our promises to our clients in delivering both on time and on budget,” explains Colwyn Knight, managing director.
