A report on Hartfields Retirement Village, the retirement village we completed for the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) last year, has declared it “a highly successful scheme, designed and built within budget and on schedule” which is “dramatically improving choices for older people” in the local area.

Telling the story of Hartfields: A new retirement village for the twenty-first century has just been published by the Centre for Housing Policy (CHP) at the University of York. Researchers spoke to residents and all parties involved in developing the Village and details decisions and challenges as the scheme developed from initial plans in 2004 to the first residents arriving in 2008. The report aims to inform our customer, JRHT, partner agencies and other, similar future developments.

Hartfields comprises over 240 one and two-bedroom homes, all fitted with emergency call systems and with an on-site, 24/7 care and support team, and communal facilities including a restaurant and café bar, a healthy living suite with fully equipped gym and spa pool, a convenience store, and a hairdressing salon.
