Castleoak Timber Frame retains highest environmental standard

Castleoak Timber Frame (CTF) has retained its Green Dragon Level 5 Certification following an audit last month, making it one of just six private companies in the UK to attain this, highest level.

The Castleoak Group company first attained the standard in July 2009, following assessment of its factory’s environmental impacts, from how water, waste and energy are managed, to how pollution is minimised and the awareness and training of staff.

CTF, which operates on a solus basis to supply 50% of our timber frame requirement, is based at a 46,000 sq ft factory in Ebbw Vale and is supported by our specialist timber frame design team, based in Malvern.

When the standard was first achieved, Castleoak Environmental Manager, Miles Thomas, said the challenge lay in the team continuing their good work to retain the standard.

“It’s no mean feat to keep the effort going so that annual improvements are made, so the CTF team has done really well,” he said.

The news follows on from the rest of the Group’s certification to the Green Dragon and BS 8555 standards earlier this year.

“Strong environmental management is not only a social imperative, it makes sound business sense,” said Group Innovation Director, Colwyn Knight.

“Certification to these widely recognised and respected standards bears out our green credentials, which are increasingly important to both customers and funders."
