Start of work marked at Welling

Cedric Frederick, left, chief executive of the Avante Partnership, with Mel Knight, our Executive Chairman, at the official start-of-work ceremony

We joined the Avante Partnership to mark the start of work on an 80-bed care home in Welling, Kent. The project renews our relationship with this customer – formerly called KCHT – for whom we built a 120-bed care home at Sidcup in 2007.

The new home will open in Spring 2011, and replaces the former Dovedale care home in Dovedale Close, which used to accommodate 46 residents. It has been designed to meet best practice in the care of people with dementia and has spacious ensuite bedrooms arranged in suites of 20. Each suite has a separate lounge and dining room together with interesting social spaces and landscaped gardens.

The project is a partnership between Avante Care and Support, Bexley Council and MCCH, which provides care and support for people with learning disabilities.
