Today saw Castleoak´s first sponsorship of another major event in the care sector, adding to our existing support of the Laing and Buisson Conferences, the National Care Forum Annual Conference and our own annual Innovation Exchange.
The ECCA (English Community Care Association) Annual Conference in London was attended by around 200 leading figures.
Castleoak Executive Chairman, Melville Knight, also spoke to around 50 delegates in one of the break out sessions, giving an analysis of the opportunities and risks involved in developing care buildings in the current market.
The content centred around the fact that, despite the continuing lack of confidence in the wider economy, there is a real opportunity to develop care homes at the moment because:
- the need is great with a rapidly ageing population and increased incidence of dementia
- there are not enough care homes and much of the existing stock is ageing and inappropriate
- investors are positive about the sector and actively seeking investment opportunities
- banks are prepared to lend to the care sector and borrowing is relatively cheap
- good quality land is available at affordable prices
