Castleoak Group Communications Director, Jonathan Smith, above, has been appointed by HRH The Prince of Wales as his Responsible Business Ambassador in Wales.
Prince Charles is President of Business in the Community (BITC), the body which encourages and supports businesses as they effect positive social change in their local communities. He has one Responsible Business Ambassador in each region of the UK who meet with him regularly, outside of their ‘day-job’, and, in his words “truly represent all that is best about the business community”.
Prince Charles announced the appointment at last week’s BITC Awards dinner in Cardiff in a specially recorded film, saying:
“Jonathan is a passionate advocate of the benefits of membership of Business in the Community and has been a powerful and inspiring ally encouraging more businesses to join the movement and to look at ways in which they can better support the communities in which they live, work and buy. He is already one of our most creative Ambassadors.
“I am so grateful to him for all he does for Business in the Community in Wales and I very much look forward to working with him as my Ambassador in Wales over the next two years.”
Jonathan said that the appointment followed his recommendation for the role by the Welsh arm of Business in the Community (BITC), with whom he has worked closely throughout his time at Castleoak.
“Castleoak and its Board place a genuine importance on the responsibility of business, not just to be profitable and create employment, but also to play a significant role in the wider community,” said Jonathan.
“This is also an area of particular personal interest and, as a result of the Group’s commitment, I have been able to represent Castleoak and our values through our links with BITC. So, while I am personally delighted to take on this new challenge, as I do so I am also appreciative of the support of the business and feel that this will bring more opportunities for the Group.”
