Castleoak welcomes new customer Abbeyfield Southern Oaks in a £12.4 million contract for extra care housing in Ewell, Surrey.

The new development of 60 contemporary apartments will create the Nonsuch Abbeyfield community and will provide homes for rent or purchase for local people.

Abbeyfield Southern Oaks is a not-for-profit organisation governed and managed by volunteers from the local community.  For over 50 years  Abbeyfield Southern Oaks has been providing accommodation for older people in sheltered homes in Ewell, Cheam, Sutton and Purley, Surrey.

In addition to the residential apartments, the building has been designed with a sense of community at its heart. The double-height space reception will provide a spacious and welcoming entrance leading through to a shared lounge and dining area, and onto landscaped gardens. Communal facilities will include a shop, library, fitness suite, cinema, hairdressers, lounge and a club room overlooking the playing fields.

“Castleoak has an excellent track record of delivery as specialist design and build partner to the care sector, including members of The Abbeyfield Society” said Graham Walker for Abbeyfield Southern Oaks. “The team has demonstrated a proactive, diligent approach to our project, providing valuable sector expertise along the way.”

The new development started on site this month, and is scheduled to open later in 2019.

“We’re delighted to welcome Abbeyfield Southern Oaks as a new customer” said Doug Jones, Managing Director at Castleoak, care sector specialist development and construction partners. “This project is our fourth project across The Abbeyfield Society affiliate network.  We pride ourselves on delivering smart solutions to our customers every time – and value this opportunity to create affordable extra care housing for local people in and around Ewell.”
