Melville Knight, Group Chief Executive
Mel graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Engineering in 1985. He initially undertook an engineering graduate management training programme with British Rail before joining Bredero Properties PLC as a Development Manager overseeing town centre retail schemes. Mel was then appointed as Assistant Commercial Director at Bristol Development Corporation, where he worked for three years before joining Castleoak in 1993.
Since then he has plotted the Group’s transformation from a regional contractor with a £1m turnover into the leading name in the development, design and construction of accommodation for people requiring care, with an annual turnover now approaching £70m. As Group Chief Executive, he leads the executive team and has particular responsibility for the corporate functions. He received the Business Leadership Award in the Leading Wales Awards 2007.
Mel is married with two grown-up children. He is a Deacon at Raglan Baptist Church and Deputy Chair of Governors at the University of Wales, Newport.
