Castleoak has Investors in People accreditation including its Leadership and Management module. We are also a three star Best Company as determined by The Sunday Times “Best Companies to Work For” survey 2007 & 2008.
It’s our aim that everyone working with us should have the opportunity to develop within Castleoak to reach his or her full potential and we are supported by funding from the Welsh Assembly Government’s Knowledge Bank for Business (KB4B) in this respect. You can read more about this support by visiting our news pages on this site.
It’s not rocket science to recognise, in a business where the main asset is the people working in it, that training and development of individuals should be high on the priority list. Staff training needs are identified on an individual basis and an appropriate programme is put together. This includes a mixture of classroom and field based training. It also relates to technical, job specific needs and to broader areas of personal development.
From January 2008 every member of staff has a minimum of 10 days per annum for personal development activities. This is made up of 7 days for job and company related training and it includes our annual staff conference, team timeout/departmental workshops and other opportunities to learn such as attendance ay industry conferences and seminars, IT & Systems training, study days and events connected with professional qualifications and CPD events connected with professional memberships
The other 3 days are for personal development activities that are not linked to the job or the company. These days must have a community support link so that the learning experience is used to the benefit of others as well as to the individual. Examples include:
- Training for and participation in fund-raising events involving personal challenge
- Training for sports coaching and similar qualifications Participation in community projects
- Leadership roles in voluntary or community organisations (e.g. school governor, local councillor)
