Oak Grange our third BREEAM Excellent care home

Oak Grange in Mollington, the 70-bed care home development we completed for Barchester Healthcare in May this year, has just received BREEAM Excellent certification.

Oak Grange is our third BREEAM Excellent building, after Wadhurst Manor and Highfield House, which were the UK’s first BREEAM Excellent older people’s and specialist care homes respectively.  We also handed over the UK’s first Passivhaus care home - Juniper House in Brackley - earlier this year.

The development of Oak Grange was backed by Bridges Sustainable Property Fund, which requires projects to demonstrate environmental leadership.

“Creating sustainable buildings are of increasing concern to our customers and care home investors, for both environmental and commercial reasons, as energy prices continue to rise,” said Castleoak Group Innovation Director, Colwyn Knight.

“That is the reason we’ve worked hard to establish ourselves at the forefront of sustainable development within the care sector, placing the practical and commercial considerations of buildability and cost savings at the heart of our projects.”
