Fifth Suffolk care home approved

Plans have been approved for a fifth Suffolk care home, which we will build for Care UK – this time at Mills Meadow in Framlingham.

The home will have 60 bedrooms and provide nursing as well as residential care. Like all the other Suffolk homes, it will also incorporate a wellbeing centre for use by local older people as well as residents.

The home will be built in two phases to allow residents to stay on site, and work is due to begin in summer 2013, with completion of the first phase scheduled for summer 2014. Work on phase two of the development is due to start in late summer 2014 with the care home and wellbeing centre to be completed in June 2015.

The first planning application was approved in January for a new care home and wellbeing centre in Chantry, Ipswich, where we are now on site, with the second in Mildenhall in February, third at Davers Court in Bury St. Edmunds and the fourth at Roman Hill in Lowestoft.

By 2016 the new homes and wellbeing centres will replace all Suffolk County Council’s former homes and wellbeing centres, which date mainly from the 1960s and 1970s.
