Merry Christmas from everyone at Castleoak
This year, instead of sending out Christmas cards, we’re wishing everyone a happy holiday through emails and via our social channels.
So, we’ve made a donation to Action for Elders, a great charity that works to eliminate loneliness and isolation among our older people.
Normally they do this face-to-face, in care homes or out in the community as part of their Balanced Lives programme. So, after March, they created Balanced Lives at Home, switching all their activities online, even supplying tablets to some people, while running online activities designed to support older people’s physical, mental and social wellbeing.
Chief Executive of Action for Elders, James Lewis, explains:
“We know that our physical, mental and social health are all interdependent – one suffers and they all suffer – and that is even more acute as we get older.
“By providing online exercise classes, and wellbeing, book and jigsaw clubs, all three primary needs are being met and older people thrive. When the pandemic hit we recruited a team of brilliant digital support officers who are supporting people every day, running these activities.
“These are tough times for us all and we really appreciate the support from everyone at Castleoak – thank you and happy holidays!”
