Orders of St John and Castleoak agree £8.8m development deal
Updated: Jul 24, 2020
In a £8.8 million development deal with Castleoak, The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) has agreed to lease a new state-of-the-art care home in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire.
This is the ninth care home project both teams have worked on together over 13 years.
Castleoak’s development team undertook demographic and care gap analysis to identify the need for a high quality care home in Thornbury. The team then identified and acquired a development site, then proceeded to successfully gain planning permission. The Orders of St John Care Trust was then secured as the care home operator.
The new 70-bed care home is also designed and built by Castleoak. Construction work began in June 2016 and the home is scheduled to open in early 2018.
The care home will offer residential, nursing and specialist dementia care with modern, spacious facilities including large lounge/dining rooms, a café, hair and beauty salon, crafts room, balcony seating areas and gardens.
“We are really pleased to be offering support to people living in Thornbury. Our research shows that there are a lot of families caring for someone with dementia in this area. We hope that they will be able to enjoy living in our new home where they will receive really excellent person-centred care” said Sara Livadeas, Strategy Director at The Orders of St John Care Trust.
